On Wednesday 11th February, Derby Hub welcomes Neil Randon as our next Inspiring Interviewee. Whilst some in Derby Hub may know Neil through his passion for his son’s motor racing at Sam Randon Racing Ltd over the last 17 years or so, he did actually have a day job!
Neil is a seasoned board‑level technology leader, former Global Chief Information Officer, an IT Director and founder of Velocity IT Interim & Consulting. With a career spanning engineering, automotive, aerospace, manufacturing, and even national infrastructure, he has led major transformation programmes for multi-billion pound organisations from JCB, Baxi Group (boilers), Moog Industrial Group (from F1 to Wimbledon roof), and more recently Xtrac (motorsport transmissions) and Northern Powergrid (electricity distribution).
His work has shaped everything from manufacturing systems, commercial systems, cloud transformation to cyber security, merger & acquisitions integration, and data‑driven governance. Appreciated by CEO’s for his calm, commercially minded leadership, Neil’s glidepath to retirement now supports organisations as an interim CIO, CISO coach, and technology advisor, particularly in high growth private equity and regulated environments.
