The weekend has come back around again and that means a new ‘Time Out’. This week’s questions are answered by Rachel Hayward, MD of Ask the Chameleon, who it turns out sings in a choir in her free time…
What is the first thing you do to get the weekend started?
As with most evenings, straight from work I get changed and walk my cocker spaniel Cooper down through the woods and lanes close-by – a great destresser, I leave the phone in the house on purpose, so I can let the rest of the week fade away, and concentrate on him and the scenery. Cooper’s always full of life – and mischief – so there is never a dull moment, we have a lot of squirrels in our woods and they make him very cross! Dog walking is also really sociable, so I see a lot of our friends on our walks
What is your hobby?
I sing in a community choir in Derby every week (work permitting) – a complete change from my day job, and again another opportunity to relax. Singing is very therapeutic and we even have the occasional concert raising money for local charities. I also love going to concerts and particularly musicals in London and locally, and I read a lot.
What is your favourite movie?
I would struggle to choose, as I love watching films…if I have to pick one, then it has to be The Godfather. A classic.
If you hadn’t been successful at what you do, what would you be doing instead as a career?
Hard to be sure, as I did work elsewhere before starting Ask the Chameleon, so I’d either be an author (fiction) or a speech and language therapist…
If you could have any superpower what would it be?
To travel any where in time…particularly back in time…just to see if it was all true – there is always more than one point of view and I would like to see for myself.
What is your favourite genre of music?
Again, really hard to choose, I love music, and will often have a playlist going on in the background (classical too) whilst I am writing my bids and awards…but I loved the 80s best…I recently heard Tears for Fears “Everybody wants to Rule the World” and it immediately took me back….
If you could travel to any moment in time where would you go?
To the Tudor Times, I am fascinated by history, and particularly Henry 8th to Elizabeth I…I’d have to be invisible though, so I could sneak round the castles and find out what really went on.
